How does VTEC work?

Veterans who participate in VTEC get unique career development and transition support tailored to guide them to achieve their goals and desired career.

Whether you want to be an energy analyst, a solar panel technician or an engineer, we will leverage VTEC resources to get you from where you are to where you want to be. From college prep to assistance with graduate school applications, VTEC is here for the veteran seeking a future in the energy sector.

 

How do interns get paid?

Interns are paid via direct deposit monthly. Payments are submitted for processing the last week of the month. The monthly stipend is a reflection of each interns level of participation. Interns must complete the required weekly check-ins prior to payment.

Our alumni have accepted positions at SPAWAR, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Naval Air Systems Command,  Northrop Grumman, Viasat, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Solar Turbines and the National Security Agency, among many others. 

How long is the duration of the internship and what are the expected hours of work?

The duration of your internship is valid until you graduate. The minimum weekly hourly requirement is 10 hours and the maximum is 20 hours while in school with opportunities to work 40 hours during the summer and breaks.

What are the eligibility criteria for the program and how competitive is the selection process?

  • U.S. citizen

  • DoD veteran

  • Full-time student

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Minimum one-year commitment

  • Ability to pass a drug test (Please note that recreational drugs and CBD use are not permitted on DoD facilities, even in the states in which it is legal).
