Position Description: NSWC Carderock - Marketing Intern

Job Title: Marketing Intern

Location: NSWC Carderock (NCR)

Duration: Year Round

Pay: $25/hr

Overview: This internship presents a valuable opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious individual to gain hands-on marketing experience within a dynamic innovation ecosystem aligned with the Navy and Marine Corps' interests.

Responsibilities and Learning Goals

  1. Marketing Strategy: Collaborate with the marketing team to assist in developing effective marketing strategies and plans to promote the Capital Tech Bridge initiative. Conduct research to identify target audiences and stay informed about industry trends. Provide input and creative ideas to support the development of impactful marketing campaigns. 

  2. Content Creation: Create engaging and compelling content for various marketing materials, including website content, blog posts, social media updates, and newsletters. Write clear and concise copy that effectively communicates the mission and value of the Capital Tech Bridge initiative. Ensure that all content adheres to branding guidelines and showcases the unique opportunities offered by the program. 

  3. Social Media Management: Manage social media accounts and assist in growing the online presence of the Capital Tech Bridge. Create and schedule social media posts that highlight upcoming events, success stories, and collaboration opportunities. Monitor social media analytics to track engagement and identify areas for improvement. 

  4. Event Support: Provide assistance in planning and organizing events hosted by the Capital Tech Bridge in the NCR. Support event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, and participant registration. Contribute to event promotion efforts through various marketing channels.

  5. Collaboration and Outreach: Assist in building and maintaining relationships with industry partners, academic institutions, and government agencies within the NCR. Attend meetings, conferences, and networking events to represent the Capital Tech Bridge and explore collaboration opportunities. Actively participate in cultivating a strong network and engaging stakeholders to foster innovation and collaboration.

  6. Analytics and Reporting: Monitor marketing metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement, and campaign performance. Analyze data using tools like Google Analytics to gain insights and make data-driven recommendations for marketing strategies and initiatives. Prepare reports on marketing activities and present findings to the marketing team.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a community college, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation. 

  • Basic understanding of marketing principles and strategies. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. 

  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to derive insights from data.
